Lower Copper Valley, Alaska: Take the Edgerton Highway
he
Edgerton Highway leads to the farming community of Kenny
Lake, on the edge of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. This
community was settled by homesteaders in the early 1960's.
They work against very heavy odds, farming and making a
living growing hay, some grain, and farm animals. The Kenny
Lake Fair, pictured here, is held in August. The road is
paved all the way to Chitina, which serves as an entry-point
to the National Park. |
