Hatcher Pass, Alaska: The Old Assay Office

is the old assay office, where gold was weighed and analyzed.
It's now a museum. The Independence Mine region is about
3,000 feet above sea level. It's an easy drive, but remember
to use low gear on the way back down from this mountainous
wild and historic site. |
