Denali State Park, Alaska: Where is Denali State Park?
he
State Park, which looks small compared to the National Park,
follows along the Parks Highway. It contains 325,240 acres;
that makes Denali State Park almost half the size of Rhode Island. Denali
National Park, in contrast, is 6 million acres. Both parks
offer travelers a chance to get into the backcountry. Denali
National Park, by design, does not have marked trails, in
order to maintain its wild character. Denali State Park
has a trail system that runs along the Curry and Kesugi
Ridges. Trailheads are at Little Coal Creek, Byers Lake,
& Troublesome Creek. This the Kiosk at Denali View North,
in Denali State Park, at Mile 162.3 on the Parks Highway.
It features information, telescopes, restrooms, and wide
parking areas - in addition to a terrific view of Mt. McKinley.
Denali State Park is a hundred miles from Anchorage. In
addition to this viewing spot, you can also see Mt. McKinley
(Mt. Denali) at Mile 135.2, 147.1, and 158.1 on a clear
