Denali Highway, Alaska: Looking for Animals

f you are looking for wild animals, the good news is that they're here, in abundance. Trumpeter swans, moose, bald eagles, caribou, beavers and bears all traverse the high country near the highway. This does not mean that you will be able to see animals just while you are driving along, however! Most likely, all you will see is apparently deserted tundra similar to that in the photograph at left. If you really want to see a wild animal, you have to stop, get out of your car, and look with binoculars. You should also keep in mind that you're more likely to see animals in the early morning or evening.
